Firstly, they allow you to visit a wide range of places that are inaccessible by road or even air travel. They allow you to use one comfortable base that has all the facilities of a good hotel – you do not have to keep packing and unpacking as you move from one destination to another. All the vessels we use have support staff, backed up with experienced resident lecturers, who increase the enjoyment of the experience by giving you those extra snippets of useful information. The meals are normally first rate, and if you feel like taking the day off to relax and do nothing, then there is no problem.
