Ornitholidays has been visiting both the Falkland Islands and Chile since the early 1990s. In this tour we have combined the two to produce a holiday that will produce some amazing photographic encounters.

There can be few birdwatchers and naturalists who have not dreamed of wandering near vast, noisy colonies of penguins and of obtaining eye-to-eye views of albatrosses - this photographic tour will allow you to accomplish those dreams in comfort. The remote Falkland Islands, 500km east of Tierra del Fuego in the South Atlantic, do not boast a large bird list (about 50), but they do have five species of nesting penguin, and some marvellous sea birds and wildfowl, as well as fabulous mammals. Southern Elephant Seals loaf and bellow on many of the sandy beaches, and there is always the chance of sighting a pod of Orcas (Killer Whales) cruising past, looking for their next victim. The warmth of the welcome that will greet you upon your arrival in this small bastion of Great Britain has become legendary, and you will not be disappointed by the superb wildlife spectacle that awaits you amongst the tussac grass and sandy beaches of this archipelago. The opportunities for photography are outstanding, and many of the birds are so tame that they run towards you!   Chile's Torres del Paine National Park is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, regarded as one of the world's most beautiful national parks. A large diversity of habitats in the park includes Patagonian steppe, scrub and sub-Antarctic forests, all set between mountains and glaciers in dramatic landscapes of extraordinary beauty. The park teems with Guanacos and overhead fly majestic Andean Condors. While here we also hope to encounter Pumas, as this is the best area in the world for sightings of these magnificent predators.

Travel with Richard and see why we think this new photographic tour will be a winner.
